Windows 10: Convert Picture Subfolders into Separate Folders

I have a picture file on my desktop that contains 3 subfolders and I want to convert each subfolder Into a separate standalone folder, essentially doing away with their subfolder status. The parent folder is A and it has subfolders A, B and C within it. Note that A is both the name of the parent folder and a subfolder, a problem which arose when I retrieved some pictures from a backup after I somehow had managed to lose them.I haven't been able to figure this one out and the internet hasn't provided any answers.

Quick Access not searching Pictures folder

Summary, that last suggestion didn't work.

• I moved the pictures to another folder temporarily.

• Then I tried to remove the Pictures folder with option one at Add or Remove Folders from This PC in Windows 10 | Windows 10 Tutorials. Even after rebooting, the Pictures folder remained.
• So I tried using option two. Same thing: reboot >> Pictures folder still there.

• Since there were no troubleshooting steps for this scenario, just for the heck of it, I ran through the restore steps. Copied some pictures into the Pictures folder, ran a Quick Access search and initial problem remains: Searching all of QA doesn't find any files in Pictures folder, running search on just the Pictures folder does. I want to run a global search and find matching files in any/all of the Documents, Music, Videos, and Pictures folders.

That article dates from 2015 and I'm guessing is out of date. I hope it didn't create potential future problems in my registry.

Bottom line: I'm still looking for a fix.

 

How to copy a list of subfolders from a folder to a system folder

I needed to backup the list of subfolders in my system folders, e.g. Documents, Pictures etc., before Windows 10 was re-installed at a Microsoft store due to a problem that could not be repaired. I thought I was copying the system folders to a separate
drive. Instead, the resulting system folders under Properties appeared as regular folders. I now need to restore the subfolders back to the system folders in one operation.



Can I simply drag the regular folders on top of the system folders of the same name so that the system folders do not become regular folders or what is the correct procedure?

Hi,

To create a folder, please follow the steps below:

• On the Pictures folder, right-click on the blank space.
  
• Click on New, then click Folder.

3. New folder will be created, then rename it.





4. Press and hold the Ctrl key, then select all same pictures (e.g. all Efron pictures), then drag them to the folder to move all the pictures.
