Windows 10: copy and paste fails to start for large data

I have a large collection of music files in folders that I tried to copy from my USB drive to an external SSD using a client's computer.Copy and paste worked fine for individual foldersHowever when I tried to copy and paste all or a significant subset - say A - E as follows:Click and drag to select a range, or Ctrl-A to select allCtrl-C or mouse right click copyCtrl-V or right mouse click pastethere was no response.
