Windows 10: Copy data from HDD to SSD in windows 11 down speed & Freeze

hiI'm a windows 11 user, I just bought an external SSD with a capacity of 1 TB, I want to move files on my old external HDD to an external SSD, but every time I move the file, the initial safe file copy speed sometimes arrives - suddenly down to 0kb/s and windows freezesPlease help

I did initialize the ssd took out the second memory module( the new one), restored bios settings,sata mode to ahci and installed windows and the same thing after 5 to 10 min the laptop freezes over and over again. I inserted the second ram module and the
freeze occurs less frequently. To me its like the ssd just shuts down after a couple minutes and then ram takes over so thats why with 8 gb ram it takes more time until the freeze.

Also I installed windows to the hdd (no freezes) and I inserted the ssd( as a storage drive ) in order to transfer some files from the ssd to the hdd before performing a clean install in the ssd again. While I was copying files from the ssd to the hdd after
some time the copying speed will go to zero and the copying will stop. The system on the hdd was running ok but the data transfer from the ssd to hdd was dead like again the ssd was shut down, no power. And I had to restart and resume the data tranfer.

So is my system shutting down the ssd or its fault or what omg.

 

Upgraded Windows Transfer from HDD to SSD

My windows was upgraded from 8 to 10 on my laptop few years back. I was trying to get the HDD replaced with SSD. During the copy process, the technician said windows cannot be moved to SSD as it is an upgraded version from 8 to 10.

Kindly guide if there is a possibility to copy the windows to SSD ? If so, please suggest the steps.

 

Move OS to SSD leave data in HDD

I would clone the HDD to the SSD. Then format the HDD and set up a number of partitions for the different kinds of data. Then move the data from the SSD to the different partitions on the HDD.

Then you might want to reduce the size of the C:\ partition and put a couple partitions on the SSD for those things that need the speed.

There are some free programs to do the clone. I use EaseUS ToDo Backup.
