Before Nov. updates I was getting 25-28 MB/s either way wifi coping files from computer to nas after that I can only get 9-11 MB/s computer to nas and around 18 MB/s from nas to computer. What did you do to this with the updates and when will it be corrected back to or better .

    Thanks

  2. Copying with Windows Explorer from NAS-USB to NAS-HDD

    Dear everyone!

I know that this is more than the NAS fault that I can't copy directly, but I'll ask here, maybe someone knows the answer....

So I bought a QNAP-T431P NAS for my friend who is a professional photographer though, to store safely (with RAID) her data.

The only problem is, that she usually copies 10+GB's from SD cards and she needs to transfer somehow to the NAS. The problem is, that her Computer is only connected via WiFi, so the performance is a little bit unstable, plus USB-copy is always faster...
So we decided to plug the SD-card directly to the NAS, to achieve the best copy performance. I can copy from the NAS Dashboard with pretty good speed (50-60MB/s which is OK), but it is too complicated for her to use, so she wants to use Windows Explorer to
do this job. The real problem is that it copies the data through the computer to the NAS, even if the SD card is plugged in directly to the NAS via USB.

Someone knows, how can I implement a feature that can "move" files directly in the NAS? It is also good if it's a 3rd party file manager....

    Thanks,

    Kristóf

  3. NAS slow and clunky

    Hey there, @copenhagen69

I think it might be a good idea to start the troubleshooting by testing the HDDs in your NAS using their brand-specific diagnostic tool or their status through the NAS dashboard interface.
How big are the files you are dragging/dropping? Usually transferring a large amount of small files or copying GB-large files could significantly slow the transfer speed.
I'd also suggest you to check the Network status of the NAS and make sure it shows 1000 Mbps. It could also be your Ethernet adapter, their speeds vary depending on the quality and line issues.
If possible, you could also try using a Gigabit Ethernet Switch to improve the transfer rate within the whole local network (including your computers).

Keep us posted. *Smile Copy files from computer to nas or nas to computer speed cut over 50% slower :)

Unable to copy and paste to NAS drive

Since the last big update to W10 I cannot copy and paste files to my NAS drive. Copy seems to work as usual but when I try to paste that option is greyed out. I have 2 machines with the same problem. I use the NAS drive as my back up as well and don't
know if thats working. I'm totally computer illiterate so any suggestions will need to be simple . All I know is one minute it was working as it has been for the last 3 years and then kaput!
