Windows 10: COPY FILES FROM w 10 TO w 11

I copied my old files to a flash drive and then copied them to the new computer. All the files on the new computer now have the word "error" and a red circle with a white "x" in it! How do I make the red and "error" disappear and files work?

Harrrased by W-11

Have tried W11 twice in this computer. It tells me that is not compatible or good enough and will not receiving W-11 updates in the future. Fair enough. Besides, I did not like it.

Back to W-10 and happy.

Yet W-11 has been pushed in the Windows Update at high speed all the time and with no means of stopping it, even after creating two hacks in the registry with the policy editor. Had to let it finish twice in one morning prior to going back to W-10. So, I suspended Updates.

But W-10 needs updates and very time I resume them, the first one is for W-11 install.

Please advise.

 

File recovery of W-7 files from W-10

I upgraded to 10 after it promised me it would save the document files exactly as had W-7 (I had recently upgraded from Vista) in the Windows.old file. Silly me. I was asked by W-10 to "name" the computer and used my first two initials and last name as
X. X. Yyyyyy. My previous "name" was listed xxyyyyyy. Now I can't access my old files because the file path, (I'm guessing, here), is different where the "name" is in the file path. I have a Windows.old file in W-10, but can't open it. I even bought an app
from the Windows store which, of course, doesn't work! (Wow! How unexpected). So at this point, I can't access files I need for my work. SOL.

Win 7 files to W 10

W 10 home 64 came with the computer & copying files from my backup corrupts the files. The first problem is that .txt files from W 7 are falsified to Doc & littered with nonsense; is it possible to alter 10 in order that such files from 7 work? The
second problems is that files from my Word 2000 program are also corrupted when opening in W 10; again is it possible to alter 10 so that these files are accessible?
