Windows 10: copy from USB 3.0 Stick to HDD SATA Data Disk and vice versa

When copying from a USB 3.0 Stick to an HDD SATA Data Disk internal is copied at 100MB/sec at lightning speed...When copying from the same HDD SATA Data Disk to the same USB 3.0 Stick [vice versa from previously] data is copied at 0KB/sec - 5MB/sec at very slow speed...Where may the problem - eg bad sectors - be with having this different speed? HDD SATA Data Disk USB 3.0 Stick ?

Installing windows off of a USB stick

Step By Step from vista:
From admin cmd prompt

1. diskpart
1a. list disk
2. select disk 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
3. clean
4. create partition primary
5. select partition 1 (replace 1 with your usb drive)
6. active
7. format fs=fat32
8. assign
9. exit

Copy Windows Vista's DVD ROM content to the Flash Drive

xcopy d:\*.* /s/e/f e:\ (d being your vista cd and e being your usb stick)

And that's it, boot off your usb disk

 

HDDs attached to PCIe SATA expansion card not showing in Windows 11 Device Manager or Disk Management

Three hard drives are connected to 3 SATA ports on a PCIe SATA expansion card on an ASUS ProArt Z690 Creator motherboard, with Windows 11 Pro, and I don't see those drives in the Device Manager. I want to assign letters to each of these 3 hard drives and make use of them. In the Device Manager I find my 4 NVMe SSDs and one Western Digital HDD listed under Disk Drives. The active SATA ports on the motherboard are occupied by three optical drives and one Hdd. The other three HDDs connected to the SATA ports on the PCIe expansion card are not listed under Disk Drives. However in the Device Manager listed under "Other devices" are four PCI devices. R click on the PCI devices show PCI bus 0, and device 21 for all, and for each is shown funct 0, funct 1, funct2, and funct5. It says there are no compatible drivers for these PCI devices, no manufacturer is listed, so could these be the three HDDs attached to the SATA ports on the PCIe SATA expansion card? How can I discover the three HDDs attached to the SATA expansion card in Windows 11, and how can I get them listed as Disk Drives, and how can I find drivers for them, and how can I assign a letter to each of those HDDS and make use of the drives? Files saved at work cannot be seen at home and vice versa! copied to the portable HDD.

Issue:

The Situation:

I have purchased two identical computers with the same OS (Win 10 Pro 64bit) and installed all the same applications and antivirus etc. One is for home and one is for work.

I use a portable HDD to save my work onto (data). Mainly graphics design and saved in *.vDoc along with Office 2016 files such as *.docx etc.

The portable drive has been set to Quick removal i.e. no write caching

• When I get home and view the portable drive's contents the file I have saved from the day’s work has vanished?

• All the older files and complete folder structure are still there (copied to the portable HDD in the past but never opened or worked on).

When I return to work the next morning the original file is still nowhere to be found, but after around 30 minutes the original file I was working on the day before suddenly reappears.

The same thing happens at home as well. The files I save at home cannot be seen at work. However, if I wait for around 30 minutes they reappear.

So effectively the files saved at work cannot be seen at home and vice versa! nor can they be seen until I wait for around 30 minutes!

This has occurred on 3 sets of portable HDDs now. I have tried Seagate, Toshiba and Western Digital portable drives in 1Tb, 2Tb and 4Tb configurations… Happens every time and I have lost days on this situation.

I have also reinstalled Windows 10 on both systems.

Perhaps Windows caches the portable drive and when you boot up on an identical system (office and home) and it gets confused and hides the files?



Does anyone know how to overcome this issue?
