Windows 10: copy/paste of photo

Helln my old PC with Windows 10 office 365 I have been used to being able to click on, e.g., a photo, chose 'copy' either from the drop-down meny, or simply ctrl+C. Then I went to the required folder, clicked CTRL+V.I cannot do this any longer! If I see a jpg file I like. I can stil click either ctrl+C or click on 'Copy image' on the dropdown menu. In both cases a blue box appears which says 'image has been copied''.Then I go to one of my folders, and 1 try ctrl.+V but nothing happens. or 2 roll out the dropdown meny and look for something like 'paste'. But there isn't. I click on the
