Windows 10: Core integrity

Recently my McAfee came up on a virus softdrinker installation.exe and it made me paranoid as I had no ideas where it came from. But after doing a security swoop on my PC found that core integrity was off cannot turn it on and it won't display anything that is incompatible. Is my computer safe with it off?

Not able to perform steps in Option 1
Under "Windows Defender Security Center", "Device Security" is not an option.
Winver reports Version 1709 (OS build 16299 402)
The processor is Intel I3
Virtualization is enabled in system BIOS.


Please advise.

What is Memory Integrity in Core Isolation? Is it helpful to avoid malware, phishing, and ransomware? Is there any Performance drop when Memory Integrity is turned on? What is the percentage of performance drop? Does it affect battery life when memory integrity is turned on? Does it also increases CPU usage?
