Core Isolation preventing a driver from loading

The driver "gdvr3.sys" was causing core isolation to turn off. After turning it back on and restarting, get the message that Core Isolation has blocked the driver from loading. However, it is not showing up under problems when I look under core isolation details. Not sure what next steps need to be.

    Core Isolation?

Yes, it enhances security. No, there are no glitches or restrictions when in use. I have it turned on for all my machines that are capable of using it and do not notice any impact on performance.

There are limitations that may prevent you turning on Memory Integrity though. All installed drivers must be compatible with Memory Integrity. This is not a problem for newer machines, but for older machines there may not be any updated drivers available.

Try turning it on, it will check your drivers and report any incompatible ones. For this particular machine the Intel HD graphics driver for its 4th gen i7 integrated graphics is preventing me turning it on. As Intel are no longer updating this driver I cannot turn on Memory Integrity on this particular machine.

On another machine with a 6th gen i7 and Intel HD Graphics 520 there are newer compatible drivers available, and I can turn on Memory Integrity.

  3. PxHlpa64.sys preventing core isolation

2012 time stamp. Internet search says possibly from Sonic owned by Corel. I may have installed something from Sonic many versions of Windows ago.

Windows 10 Pro completely up to date. I5-9600K.

I thought it would be easy to fix by unchecking PxHlpa64.sys in AutoRuns. But that just keeps it from loading. Still gets flagged by Core Isolation. Can't rename it or associated cat with windows running. Hate to do it anyway on or offline and maybe cause some side effect.

Least useless advice internet search got me was to open all x hundred devices in device manager and look at the drivers of each, then uninstall the driver from there when you find it. Sort of like finding who has a particular phone number by reading the white pages.

Aside from not believing that's the easiest way to get rid of a useless driver, I suspect I could spend hours looking at every device driver in Device Manager and never find it there.

For personal betterment, is there a way to find out what #$&* device is associated with a specific driver?

For solving the problem how the heck do I get rid of this useless driver?

More search says it could be related to DVD drives, so I went there in Device Manager and sure enough. A brand new Blu-Ray drive uses the driver. ^%&*.

I uninstalled the device and rebooted. Still can't turn on Core isolation because of the driver. So, figured maybe its reinstalling itself on boot, so went into BIOS and disabled the SATA port its on. Core isolation still fails because of the driver.

    core isolation blocked by ew_usbccgpfilter.sys

Windows 11 Pro Eval Build 22581 on SurfaceBook1

Core Isolation was disabled, due to Western Digital drivers, and HuaWei drivers, including the star of our show, ew_usbccgpfilter.sys!

Go to Privacy and Security, in Core Isolation, open Core Isolation Details, run the scan, on the report, expand all together, and screenshot it, so you've got your "hit list".

The WD drivers and all the other HW drivers were deleted in Device Manager, .view . devices by driver, go down to the target, give it the big D!

Now for the exception: ew_~.sys is not locatable in Device driver. I tried sending Windows Search out for it, but even most of an hour came back as a failure - no data.

I searched about the internet, got some ideas to look in various "driver* " locations, and voila! I found the bugger in Windows > System32> drivers.

Deletion was easy, then went back to Privacy & Security, enabled core isolation, and rebooted.

I wish this had never happened. I wasted three hours on the result of corporate negligence.
