  1. Corrupt Microsoft Account Causing Restart Function To Not Work

Hi all,I've had an issue for the past week or so on my asus rog strix g18 gaming laptop rig which has caused my restart function to stop working completely whether i need to update windows and restart, or try and do a system repair and restart afterwards, the entire function doesn't work with anything involving a restart. Anytime I try to restart i'm met with the asus logo screen without the loading ring dots underneath and that asus logo boot screen will stay there until I manually shutdown the laptop with the power button and then power it back on. Only then am I able to boot into windows pr

  4. Corrupt Microsoft Account Causing Restart Function To Not Work

    Restart function not working

    Hi Frieda,

Welcome and thank you for posting your query in Microsoft Community.

We regret the inconvenience caused to you.

    • How are you trying to restart the computer?

Let us try the following steps, and check if it helps.

Step 1: I suggest you to run power troubleshooter which will tell you if there is something wrong with the power settings.

Follow these steps to run power troubleshooter.

    • Press Windows key + X key and Select
      Control Panel
      .
    • Select Troubleshooting.
    • Select View All on the top left corner.
    • Run Power troubleshooter.

    Step 2: Clean Boot.

Follow the article How to perform a clean boot in Windows in the below link and check if it helps:

How to perform a clean boot in Windows - Microsoft Support

Disclaimer: A clean boot is performed to start Windows by using a minimal set of drivers and startup programs. This helps eliminate software conflicts that occur when you install a program or an update or when you run a program
in Windows. You may also troubleshoot or determine what conflict is causing the problem by performing a clean boot. You must log on to the computer as an administrator to be able to perform a clean boot. Your computer may temporarily lose some functionality
when you perform a clean boot. When you start the computer normally, the functionality returns. However, you may receive the original error message, or experience the original behavior if the problem still exists. If the computer is connected to a network,
network policy settings may prevent you from following these steps.

NOTE: Once you perform clean boot do refer to the section “How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting” to boot the computer in normal mode.

    Hope it helps.

(Applies to Windows 10 as well)

    Hope it helps.

Let us know if the issue persist, we are glad to assist you.
