Windows 10: Corrupt Segment

I have a external hard drive connected to my computer that has all my quickbooks files on it but have a corrupt segment, the number chkdsk gave me was 3EFSD. Can somebody please help me fix it.

Account changed to TEMP - can't get my own user account as the main one.

I signed in to my computer's account (I'm the sole user of this PC), a message came up saying "..this is a temporary account - could not load your account - try restarting this usually fixes the problem..."

I did just that (re-started) a few times in fact because each time the same thing happened, what alarmed me the most was that it looked like all my files were gone! I checked Program Files and they were all in place, I looked in my personal User folder all
the Documents, Downloads, Pictures.. everything basically was still there, phew... but still the problem seems to be that I'm on a Temporary account and therefore certain apps I've been using and other settings are not in place like they should be and I can't
seem to work out what I should do.

I did an sfc /SCANNOW - everything there was 100% fine, when I did CHKDSK the following came up, not sure this is relevant but I'll put it here nonetheless:

I HAVE been having problems with my case fan, leading me to have to unplug the power cord (after Windows has shut down) (the restart button doesn't cure the fan problem) and then re-connect, whereby the fan behaves properly (i.e. doesn't make an awful grinding
type sound) - the thing is there is no power switch on the back (unusual(?)) so I'm worried perhaps a power surge may be the cause as all this happened after I turned the machine off, unplugged the power and then re-connected it.. just a thought.

Any help would be much appreciated, as some of the changes I make to get some semblance of normality back to my PC, get undone after I sign out and back in again, very time consuming..

Kindly help me, I have dual boot ubuntu with windows and ubuntu partition ran out of space so I decided to shrink storage partition to add space to ubuntu partition using gparted but process ended
with this error which made my day bad and stopped resizing ubuntu partition trying to fix it without result :

NTFS is inconsistent. Run chkdsk /f on Windows then reboot it TWICE!

The usage of the /f parameter is very IMPORTANT! No modification was

so I decided before continue resize ubuntu partition to chkdsk /f from windows 10 admin cmd which ended with this:

now partition fixed and running but I noticed many gigabytes added as free space!!! and some data inside looks missing! so I decided to run the long process of chkdsk /r to check for bad sectors and
thanks god no bad sectors found.. finally I decided to go back to gparted and resize storage partition as before and chkdsk again trying to bring back these missing files. so what's your advice in this case it there a way to roll back this chkdsk and rerun
chkdsk /f after resizing storage partition as before or is windows saves the old copy of file system structure which I can roll back to it if there is a problem happened from chkdsk fix!!

 

Hi there. For now I recommend to dismount it and shut it down until we come up with a solution. Does it make any kind of ticking noise?

What was the chkdsk command that you ran that displayed 3EFSD?
Was there any additional information displayed?
