I recently noticed a lot less space on my system drive than there should be, and confirmed something was constantly filling up space, Windirstat brought me to the folder

    C:/users/user/appdata/local/packages/Microsoft.Windows.Cortana_gibberishstring/AC/AppCache/gibberishstring

...which contains 50,000 subfolders, numbered, which appear at a glance to be nigh-identical copies of .txt files with repetative strings in numerous languages. Each of these subfolders is 1.5MB. Each appears extremely similar, if not exact copies, of all the others...50,000 times.

New...seemingly identical or identicalish, and not containing any useful information AFAIK....folders are being created at a steady rate. Another 1.5MB folder, over and over....several times a minute. I'm VERY rapidly running out of space.

How do I stop this? It's getting pretty fing urgent, only 19.7GB space left, when I opened windirstat I was concerned that I only had 21.5... 51,300+ folders now.... 19.1GB...help.

SSD storage keeps filling up on its own

    Hi Ash,

There's a possibility that the files are just hidden. As an initial troubleshooting, we suggest following the steps below on how to display hidden files that's eating space of your SSD:

    • On the Search bar, type folder, and then select
Show hidden files and folders from the search results.
    • Under Advanced settings, select Show hidden files, folders, and drives,
      and then select OK.

Keep us in the loop with the result.
