Windows 10: Cortana doesn't set reminders/alarms open apps

I bought my laptop recently. At first, when I used the old version of Win10 which came along defaultly, Cortana worked fine. However, as I updated Windows the next day, it just stopped doing some of the things such as: setting alarms/reminders, opening apps, increasing/decreasing volume&brightness. Sometimes it replies "Sorry, I don't know the answer to that one." and sometimes it makes a bing research.


What I don't understand is that it can hear me fine, can reply to me, can tell a joke well, but cannot do things what I really need :


I kind of tried everything, deleted Cortana couldn't reinstall it, reinstalled Windows a clean one, did every updates, but in vain. Can someone help with this.

Hi-

I used to be able to set alarms and reminders via Cortana by saying "Remind me to..." etc., but now whenever I try to do this, Cortana opens a web page instead.

I have a Lumia 640 with OS build 10.0.14393.576/

I've tried restarting my phone. Please help!

I wasn't willing to do a hard reset, but I didn't have to! The soft reset worked and Cortana is back to setting my alarms & reminders correctly. Thanks so much!
