Windows 10: Cortana Goes Crazy All By itself

I am running Windows 10 (32bit) with the latest updates installed (KB4469233). I have completely reinstalled Windows from the Microsoft web site


The computer is an RCA Cambio with a Atom x5-8350 with 2GB of RAM. This may have shipped with the Chinese version running the English Language Pack


I have Cortana disabled as far as possible.


However, at random times, Cortana will take over the computer. It repeatedly pops up along with the alert window. This continues for 1-5 minutes. I have not found any way to stop this. Twice it has corrupted Windows to the point I had to re-install from scratch.


Needless to say, this is somewhat annoying. Fortunately, my user files are stored on an SD card, or it would be catastrophic.

Cortana Notebook

In order to enable the Notebook icon in Cortana, I suggest you to check if you have enabled Cortana.

To enable Cortana, please follow the steps below:

• Go to Cortana.
• Go to Settings.
• Turn on “Cortana can give you suggestions, ideas, reminders, alerts”.

What happens after that, do you get any error message? I suggest you to try to turn Cortana off and then try turning it on back and check if it starts.

• Open Cortana.
• Click the hamburger button in the top left of the window.
• Go to Settings and click on off.
• Follow the same steps to turn it on.
