Cortana is not showing in taskbar since update

Hi Shivam,

There are times that Cortana may not work after an update unexpectedly.

To better assist you, kindly answer these questions:

• Have you checked if Cortana is turned off? Go to Cortana Home and selecting the grid icon.
• Have you checked the other user account and see if Cortana will work?
• Did you check in the taskbar if Cortana is hidden or not? Right click the taskbar, click Cortana and make sure to choose "Show Cortana icon" or "Show search box".

 

Cortana Taskbar Search Not Working

Cortana taskbar search shows up but when you click on it, you cannot enter text. Also even though you can see the Cortana control panel listing when searching in Settings when you click on it it does not open. I checked and the Cortana files are in the System Apps folder. The Cortana process does not show up in Task Manager processes. It looks like some built in Win 10 Microsoft apps are disabledoing in Apps and Settings. See attached pics. Any tips would help fix this Cortana taskbar search issue will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hi,

If in case that you're not seeing any search bar or box on your taskbar, this option can be hidden. You can have your search box appear on your taskbar by following these steps:

• Right-Click on the taskbar or Cortana.
  
• Hover your mouse over Cortana, then select Show search box.
