Windows 10: Cortana is showing up as windows explorer and is not working

Hello,


I wonder if anyone knows about this issue I'm experiencing with Cortana in windows 10 October update 1809. Whenever I try to use Cortana's voice function it crashes and opens as windows explorer, check the picture below.





And I look it out in task manager, it really is showing Cortana's process inside the dropdown list of windows explorer, check the picture below.





If someone knows what is happening or how to solve this issue, even thought, I'm waiting for Microsoft to release a new version so it might just be a crash from the October update.

Windows Explorer Replacement?

are you running IE7? if not that wouold be my first suggestion,upgrade to ie7 that can fix some stability issues with windows explorer

Explorer defaults to opening this page when you open a new window. If you’d rather open the usual This PC, with links to your drives and library folders, follow these steps:

• Open a new Explorer window.
• Click View in the ribbon.
• Click Options.
• Under General, next to “Open File Explorer to:” choose “This PC.”
• Click OK

Cortana stopped showing my calendar events on cortana home

Hi,

Thank you for your interest in Windows 10.

I suggest you to try to turn Cortana off and then try turning it on back and check. Refer to the steps below to turn Off and On Cortana:

• Open Cortana.
• Click the hamburger button in the top left of the window.
• Go to settings and click on off.
• Follow the same steps to turn it on.
• Check if issue persists.
