Windows 10: Cortana Location in Windows 10 2004

I upgraded to windows 20.04 yesterday. Now Cortana does not know my location anymore and there seems to be no way to change it i.e. Cortana notebook is gone. My actual address is in California but Cortona keeps reporting the time, weather or location as either in Kenosha WI or Magnolia TX. I have verified my default location in Windows 10, and Maps the app and Bing Maps report the proper location. Also, Cortana on my Invoke reports the correct location until that dies.


Does anyone know how to fix this?

In this scenario, we would suggest you to perform these steps and check.

1. Open Microsoft Store app and
   click on the three dots (…) from the right top corner.
   
2. Now select Downloads and updates from the drop down.
   
3. Click on Get updates from the right top corner.
   
4. Restart the PC and then relaunch Cortana.

Cortana and Location Settings

Hi,

I realize the inconvenience you are facing. Let me help you in resolving the issue.

This issue may occur if location settings are not turned on for Cortana.

To turn on location settings for cortana, I suggest you to try these steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Click on Start Button and type Location in the search.
  
• 
  Open Location Privacy Settings.
  
• 
  Under the option "choose apps that can use your location" check if Cortana is turned on.
  
• 
  If not turn on and check if it helps.
  

Also suggest you to check if similar issue persists on another user account.



Create another administrator user account by referring to

Set up accounts on Windows 10 article.



The corrupted user profile does not function normally such as not launching
Start menu, Cortana, Search bar, Store and other
Windows applications. In such cases creating a new profile and checking for the same will help in identifying if the is specific to corrupted user profile or the OS.

Cortana and location won't turning on.

  Which region do you live?
  
• 
  Do you get any error message when you try to turn on your location in settings menu?
  

Currently, Cortana is only available in the some of the countries/regions.

As you are not able to access Cortana from start menu, you may follow the below steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Press Windows + X keys on the keyboard, select
  Command prompt (admin).
  

2. Enter the below command and hit Enter key.

PowerShell -ExecutionPolicy Unrestricted

3. Now enter the below command and hit Enter key.

Get-AppXPackage -AllUsers |Where-Object {$_.InstallLocation -like "*SystemApps*"} | Foreach {Add-AppxPackage -DisableDevelopmentMode -Register "$($_.InstallLocation)\AppXManifest.xml"}
