Windows 10: cortana not fully working and missing apps

i have just bought a new lap top for my daughter and have set myself up as administrator and her as a child. initially cortana had the search box with the mic in it now this has disappeared, cortana is also missing from the start menu. when i go into the cortana settings there is no option to learn my voice which is a problem as it does not recognise my daughter. i can still ask questions which usually end in a web search. there are no boxes along the bottom of the cortana box when i activate it saying search for apps, docs or web.

cortana can hear me and the mic is fine.


the other issue ive found is that the Microsoft store app has disappeared so i cant download any apps. it was there initially but now it has gone.


ive tried;

trouble shooting - all fine

reset the computer keeping files but this has basically returned it to exactly the same state.


i am logged into my Microsoft account on my work computer and don't have these issues so i'm presuming its not to do with my Microsoft account/settings


im not massively computer savey and don't know what to do other than reset the computer again this time not keeping the files and presumably this will return it to the state when i first got it??

Cortana not working

Just to ensure that the settings are configured correctly, please try the steps below.

This issue may occur if location settings are not turned on for Cortana.

To turn on location settings for Cortana, I suggest you to try these steps and check if it helps.

• 
  Click on Start Button and type Location in the search.
  
• 
  Open Location Privacy Settings.
  
• 
  Under the option "choose apps that can use your location" check if Cortana is turned on.
  
• 
  If not turn on and check if it helps.

Appreciate your efforts to work on this issue.

This issue can occur if some of the system files are not working as expected.

Suggest you to follow the steps from this article to
troubleshoot Cortana on the PC.

Note: Do not go with the ‘Reset PC’ option for now.

Method 1: Follow these steps to disable Cortana:

1. Sign-in to the PC with your Microsoft account.
   
2. In the search box at the bottom, type Disable Cortana.
   
3. Once the suggestions appear in the list, click Cortana & Search settings.
   
4. From the right section of the Settings pane, move the top button to ‘Off’ to disable Cortana from Windows 10.
   

Method 2: Follow these steps to check if that helps.

1. Launch Cortana from the search bar on the taskbar.
   
2. Then, from the left pane click the settings button.
   
3. Under "Cortana" (the first option) and slide the pill switch to the ‘Off’ position.
   

Method 3: Launch the Settings app and click on Privacy. Navigate to Speech, inking, & typing, and click Stop getting to know me. These steps will disable Cortana.

Cortana will not sync with my andoid device cortana app and the windows 10 pc embedded app!

There are several workarounds that we can perform for us to troubleshoot the problem with your
Cortana on your Android device. In the meantime, we suggest that you follow these steps:

• On your Android device, open Settings.
• Go to Application Manager.
• Select the Cortana app.
• Tap on Clear Cache.
• Reset your device.
