Windows 10: cortana not funtioning

just installed the latest build & loving it on first look but the cortana feature does not work
i have downloaded the iso from the microsoft site, uk x64 version. on setup i selected swedish as time & currency also swedish keyboard.
any ideas

That isn't really a solution for Microsoft and their FAIL MAIL app sine you have to use it to use many Cortana funtions!!!SOMEONE from Microshit needs to get on these threads and give some real assistance!

Shouldn't it be possible to get it by downloading an iso while using a software like tor to cloak your real identity and trick their servers into thinking you are actually in the us? But I doubt it will be worth the pain. I don't want Cortana I want a freaking search box so I can easily launch system tools. I know it is possible using the Windows + R but there you have to know the exact name whereas with the search box you can also find the desired tool if you only know how the first few letters of the name.

 

If you want to play with Cortana, the only thing you need to do is to enable US English display language and set your region to USA.

To change the display language to US English (or any other language available), see this tutorial: Language - Add, Remove, and Change in Windows 10

As soon as you have changed both of the above you can use Cortana, as here I am using it in Germany:




When you have finished playing, set region back to Sweden and move Swedish in Language Settings back to top, then sign out and back in to switch back to Swedish display language:

 

I can't get Cortana to respond beyond opening a Bing page for anything I ask - Mail, Settings, local Italian restaurant. How do I get her to do anything else?

Hi there.

I think you have to use a US VPN to get proper functionality too. Since I use one for NETFLIX (US version is much better than European for content - more choice etc) I use the same VPN and it works for cortana. There's still not a lot you can do with it though. (Build 9926).

It might work in Germany like you've said but in ISL you need the US VPN.

Note - Use the PRO not the ENTERPRISE version of W10 though -- not sure but cortana seems not to be implemented on Enterprise --or I can't get it to work.
