Windows 10: Cortana not working since windows update

Hi

since running the windows big update this year, cortana refuses to work. she worked prior to the update.

I'm in the insider programme and am on 18970.rs.


Cortana has no options on the settings screen and I cant seem to find a way to get any.


i'm running a hp spectre windows 10 16gb, 1tb hd with an I7 processor.

Screen shot attached...any ideas?

As initial troubleshooting I request you to try below steps,

I suggest you to install the latest windows 10 updates, please follow the steps to install all the windows updates.

If you want to check for the update now, select the Start button, then select Settings
> Update & security > Windows Update > Check for updates.

Run the Search and Indexing Troubleshooter.

Follow the below steps:

  Open Control Panel.
  
• 
  Select Troubleshooting.
  
• 
  Click on Search and Indexing Troubleshooter.
  
• 
  Run the Troubleshooter.

Cortana not working

This issue may occur if location settings are not turned on for Cortana.

To turn on location settings for Cortana, I suggest you to try these steps and check if it helps.

I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting steps listed below and check if it resolves the issue.

Make sure that Cortana is enabled:

Click on the Taskbar search box, click Settings icon, and then make sure that the option labelled Cortana can give you suggestions, ideas, reminders, alerts and more is turned ON.

Turn on Location

  Click on Start and select Settings, navigate to Privacy > Location.
  
• 
  On the right-side, under Location, you will see On if the location is enabled for this device.
  
• 
  And, if the location for this device is not enabled, please click the Change button, and then move the slider to on position.
  

Install all Windows Updates

Most of the issues are fixed by installing Windows Updates make sure that your system is up-to-date.

Type Windows Updates in search bar and select Check for updates from the results.

If updates are available, try installing them and check.
