Windows 10: Cortana says "Sorry about that, I didn't hear anything" even before I speak a word.

I recently set up Cortana but I get no response when I say "Hey Cortana". Then I clicked on the mic icon in the search bar at the bottom left and before I even start talking cortana says "Sorry about that, I didn't hear anything". I checked my mic by trying to record something in the voice recorder app, it works perfectly fine, but when I go to the recording sections in the control panel, the green bars which are supposed to move when I speak are always empty. I also checked for any available driver update but it says I have the latest ones installed. How do I fix this?

Hello, sorry to hear Italian isn't an available language for MS speech recognition. (It's actually hard to find that info.. links that lead nowhere in MS i.e. to a generic page that says nothing useful.

Certainly the interface GUI language is a parent language, and the speech language must be the same or related.

It seems odd Cortana should recognise Italian and yuo not be able to use that generally in speech recognition.

As I said, Cortana is a search tool, so that's what you're speaking to. It does Bing (by default) searches. It doesn't format documents.

I suggest you to go through the below methods and check if it helps.

Step 1:

I suggest you enable settings in the Playback Devices and check if it helps.

Follow the below steps:

• Right click on the speaker icon on your taskbar.
• Select Playback Devices.
• Click on the Playback Devices and right click on the
  Speakers/Headphones.
• Check mark on the Show Disabled Devices and
  Show Disconnected Devices.

If the issue persists the follow the below step.

Step 2:
