Windows 10: Cortana search bar not finding things such as regedit

Discus and support Cortana search bar not finding things such as regedit in Windows 10 Support to solve the problem; My cortana bar seems to be missing some important stuff when I search.     Cortana search bar not finding things such as regedit


    My cortana bar seems to be missing some important stuff when I search. Regedit is completely absent when doing search for one. Any ideas why?

    Cortana search bar "Search all the things" instead of "Ask me anything"

    There is no reason to be suspicious. Part of the Windows 10 campaign is a push for continuous improvement, so an update was probably pushed out that edited the text for Cortana.

    I wouldn't worry about it.

    Cortana search bar "Search all the things" instead of "Ask me anything"

    This makes me suspicious, why has the Cortana search bar changed to "Search all the things" as default text rather than "Search the web and windows" or "Ask me anything"? This does not seem very corporate or illustrated elsewhere?

    Machine is W10h v1607 Build 14393.693

    Your machine is up to date / Real-time protection = On / Cloud-based protection = On

    Defender = up to date 1.235.2528.0

    Searching from the bar takes me to Edge / Bing results as expected.

    No unusual behaviours noticed, no recent installations, Cortana working as expected.

    Cortana search bar not finding things such as regedit

    Regedit magically started appearing without having to do this but will definitely keep this in mind for next time cortana starts acting up. Thanks!
