Windows 10: Could corrupted PNG or SVG files break my OS?

I've been wondering about this, but could broken SVG/vector files and PNG files cause any harm to the OS in any way? I make SVG files, and sometimes I have this underlying anxiety from an incident where my old laptop once struggled to boot up after making an SVG file and a PNG of said file. Quick access also did not shift said files to the upper part of the quick access list when interacted with, and I deleted the files due to the concern they may have been causing issues, and stuff went normalish.Was this just a weird coincidence, or what?On both my old and current laptops, I have all of my S

Hi Johnnie,

Right click an svg file, choose Open With - Choose Another App

At the bottom of the resulting menu, check the box marked, 'Always use this app to open .svg files'

Look for cricut in the list of apps, if it is there, choose that

If it is not there, scroll to the bottom and choose More Apps

If you still cannot find cricut, scroll to the bottom and choose 'Look for another App on this PC'

Locate the cricut program in either C:\Program Files or C:\Program Files (x86)

Then click OK

That will reset the file association on svg files . . .

 

Corrupted file RAR

If the archive has been created using WinRAR, why don't you try WinRAR itself? It has a built-in repair feature for repairing corrupted archive (ZIP as well as RAR). Follow the steps given below:

• Open WinRAR application in your system.
• Now click on File tab > Open or simply press Ctrl+O.
• A small window "Find Archive" will pop up. Locate the corrupt RAR archive from your system directory and select it.
• Now click Open button.
• Click Tools tab > Repair archive or simply press Alt+R.
• Again a small window "Repairing File name.rar" will pop up.
• Now click Browse to select a location to save the repaired archive.
• Check the box "Treat the corrupt archive as RAR" and click OK.
• WinRAR will start repairing of corrupt RAR archive. Once it gets completed click Close.

I hope the above steps will help you repair the corrupted RAR archive.

Which program do you use to edit and view your svg files?

Have you tried associating those files with that program?

Right click one of the SVG files.

Click Properties

Click the General tab

Click Change

If you see the appropriate program listed, select it then check the option to always use that program.

Click Apply then OK.
