    Hi

There is a Microsoft Casual Games Community here,

    Home - Microsoft Casual Games

that might be a good place to express your views - especially the Inner Circle.

Ads to the desktop would suck, IMO. I for one would rather pay for updates to the OS. But, at this point it's all speculation and hopefully we will find out more solid information on or about Jan 21, 2015.

    Hi there

while mobile phone ads can be "tolerated" especially if they are those small ignorable ones at the bottom of the screen, a desktop is a totally DIFFERENT type of environment.

If I'm designing something complex I certainly don't want ANY distractions -- especially if it's an Engineering project where a faulty design or an overlooked error CAN COST LIVES.

If you need to refer to complex text or check a spreadsheet for example you don't want THIS type of stuff overlaying part of your actual work area or text (a lot of sites seem to have these logos now and it's HUMUNGOUSLY IRRITATING).

For example see screen shot where these irritating logos overlay the text I want to read.

Could Free Windows 10 Bring Ads on Our Desktops?

    Hi there

Actually the idea of a FREE ad supported OS isn't so far fetched -- it is possible that this model might seriously be under consideration. Sometimes companies do a bit of "kite flying" just to test the market reaction - usually cheaper than hiring a professional marketing outfit. There could possibly be a Free version commercially sponsored although for a desktop version to be used in a serious workplace I rather think not.

News often comes like this --for example you get imbecilic and inane questions especially by TV reporters when reporting on disasters -- such as for example the Ferry fire off the Italian coast recently -- asking a survivor "aren't you glad to be off the ferry" !!! What's he expected to say -- No I wish I'd stayed on the burning ship !!! -- or asking his parents what did you feel when you heard your son had been rescued -- did they really expect the parents to say "I wish he'd been left on board !!!!

    Cheers

jimbo LOL! Agree to an extent. Nothing is really far fetched in this world, especially to make a buck. I don't think Americans would go for this kind of edition. Advertising stuck under our noses everywhere. Some billboards along the roads have now grown into 20 ft X 12 ft computerized wide screens flashing different ads every 5 or 10 seconds on both sides. I do mean flash. Catches the eye every time. Rather distracting really.

I can understand ads on a web page or in a free app to an extent, but not on a desktop or Start screen. Some sites get carried away such as Softpedia. If a web page takes more than 5 seconds to load because of all the ads, especially a video ad it's Alt/Back arrow keys or Ctrl/W > Next! *Biggrin

    Like I stated > Alt/Back arrow keys or Ctrl/W > Next!
