Windows 10: Could not connect to the modem

i want to ask, I just upgraded win 7 to win 10 the next day I replaced the old antivirus to Microsoft defense and after that I couldn't connect to the modem


usually the service is written
"Service: Not connected / connected"
but after changing to
"Service: Service is restricted"


any suggestions?

1. Do you see network signals showing as connected in the taskbar?
   
2. May I know the model of the Vodafone modem you are using?
   

Please refer to
Mobile Broadband Software for Windows 10 for the list of modem models which support Windows 10. We would suggest you to download the software utility from the article and check if it resolves the issue.



We would also suggest you to follow the steps mentioned below to check for the drivers for modem.

1. Connect the USB modem.
   
2. Open Device Manager by searching for it in search bar.
   
3. Locate and expand Universal serial bus Controllers in the list.
   
4. Check if the driver are displayed under the tree.

• Is your computer connected to the modem using a wired or wireless connection?
• What is the status of the connection in the system tray? Are you connected to the modem but not getting Internet connectivity?
• What troubleshooting steps have you tried so far?

I would suggest you to try the following and check:

• Verify that the cable connects the modem to the wall jack is connected securely.
• Verify that the cable connects the computer to the modem is attached securely at both ends.
• Restart the router/modem.
