  1. Could not locate file

    Hello everyone,

After trouble shooting a problem where Comodo firewall would not complete installation, which required me to run Windows setup, on my wife's computer it seems something has become corrupted.

I can open her user folders such as documents, pictures, music, etc. All the files seem to be there, I can see their properties, move them, rename them. But when I double click to open a file, for instance a word document, Windows gives an error that reads, "Windows could not locate [path to file], make sure you typed the correct file name."

The troubleshooting I did required some fairly intense registry cleanup, so it wouldn't surprise me if the corruption lies in the registry. does anyone know of some possible solutions?

    :)

I could not locate the .snt file or the Sticky Notes folder in my C Drive. Please help me if I am missing something ?

I wanted to transfer my .snt file from one pc to another but I couldn't find the sticky notes folder in my second pc. "C:\Users\logon\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Sticky
Notes" this is the location that I got the .snt file from but there is no sticky notes folder in my second pc. I tried un-hiding the files and folder but still nothing. Both are running windows 10.

Someone please guide me if I am missing something.

    Thanks

    Could not locate file

Looks like those types of files are not associated with the programs they belong to. You may have to do it manually for every type of file.

    Hi.
You might try booting the system to Kyhi's rescue media, and verify the files are really there and you are able to copy them to an external drive. Then perhaps a CHKDSK on the OS hard drive may help put the pointers back in place? It's difficult to say, not knowing what changes you made.
