Hi. The title is an excerpt from the CBS.log created system file check failed to repair corrupt files. There is more to the log file, but the corruption error repeats many times and seems to be indicative of the failure.

Below is a screenshot the cmd.exe feedback after sfc /scannow *immediately after a full system reset* under the recovery options displayed after selecting "Reset" from power menu on the logon screen while holding the shift key:

I am completely confused. Why are there corrupt files immediately after a reset / re-installation? How is the pid.dll store file corrupted as well - did I get a bad installation medium? What can I do to correct this?

I've posted about this before and the first response told me to run sfc / scannow. I'm not sure if the person responding simply did not read my post, or didn't care, but I am trying again. PLEASE do not respond to this post telling me to do the thing I just did which raises the question that is the subject of this post. It' like I'm saying "help, I can't do x" and the response is "okay first just do x and tell me what happens."

    Again, my questions are:

    1. Why does sfc /scannow find and fail to repair corrupt files immediately after a reset / re-installation?

    2. How is the pid.dll store file also corrupted - did I get a bad installation medium?

    3. What can I do to correct this?

I shall pessimistically await a competent response.

    Thanks

    J

Could not reproject corrupted file \??\C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\winmm.dll; source file in store is also corrupted

    Hello Microsoft Team,

I have been recently experiencing issues with a lot of applications(Firefox, Opera, Steam, NVidia GeForce Experience, etc.) I checked Microsoft Forums and the posts mentioned running sfc scan. I went ahead and ran the scan in cmd as Administrator and got
    2 errors:

Could not reproject corrupted file \??\C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\winmm.dll; source file in store is also corrupted

Could not reproject corrupted file \??\C:\WINDOWS\SysWOW64\winmmbase.dll; source file in store is also corrupted

What do I do now? The couple of knowledge base articles I looked at, said replace dll files with trusted copies. Where would I get those? I could not find a Microsoft repository for the dll files and I tend not to trust secondary dll sources.

    Thanks

Windows 10 - Corrupt opencl.dll file and file source

    Hello,

My PC has been randomly rebooting, sometimes after 2 minutes of use sometimes after 5 hours of continues use.

I did sfc /scannow and it was unable to repair the following corrupt files:

00003d43 [SR] Could not reproject corrupted file [l:23 ml:24]"\??\C:\WINDOWS\

After further googling, I came across this page (Windows 10 DIsm cannot find souce file) which claims to have the solution based on later posts
but I do not know the steps or how to achieve the solution. Could someone please clarify what needs to be done, step by step to resolve this issues between the conflicting Windows and Nvidia "opencl.dll" files?

I already reinstalled the OS, the error is still here and tends to reboot more often when I am pocking around in the System settings in comparison to just surfing the web for an hour or two before it reboots.

    PC Stats:

    Nvidia version 358.91 GTX 760

    Windows 10 Pro 64, OS Build 10586.36, Version 1511

    8GB RAM

    i5-4690 3.50GHz
