Windows 10: Could there be a virus in the .sav file?

hi as far as i know, the sav file is a file that only games can read Can I get virus from this file?

There is no single application with which a .sav may be associated:

Was the icon simply blank/white before you associated it? If so it was not specifically associated with anything, and you might try to 'unassociate' it:

If you like, here's a .reg file that will unassociate .sav files for you.

Once you download it, you would just need to double click it to open/run, and approve the prompts to merge it.

wow, that was fast, thanks! now there's one more thing I noticed. In my attempt to load the sav-file in the first place, I dragged it into the window and now it's part of the list. In the advanced view there's a remove-button. but it doesn't remove the program (or sav-file in this case) permanently from the file. when I reload the program, it shows up again.
