Windows 10: Couldnt complete reset in windows 10 laptop

Couldnt complete the reset. The PC is not functioning at all so I tried to use the windows recovery environment by performing hard restarting the device. All the options like system restore, start up settings cmd and even resetting the PC is not working. All of them got error. I cant even go to safe mode. I got a virus before that makes my PC not functioning so I want to completely repair it or reset and remove everything. How can I make it work?

Hi dalchina. Good news, I followed your suggestion and reinstalled the update and now it appears as "installed correctly" *Biggrin Maybe it was not necessary to run the Windows Update Troubleshooter or maybe if necessary. But using it I do not think it could have worsened something. The installation was very fast, unlike the first time it showed step 1 and step 2 completed.

reset laptop password

i could not figure out what forum this should go in, so feel free to move to whatever forum it should be in.
a friend just called, and said he has 2 daughters and 2 dell laptops. his daughters have lost the password to both laptops. is there a way to reset the password without a full reformat? he said his daughters have a lot of music, pictures, ect. and wants to avoid reinstalling windows.
i know that a long time ago there was a jumper on the motherboard that would reset the password on a regular pc. is there such a jumper on a laptop? or is there any free software that would let him reset the passwords? he can not afford a dell tech to fix, and i told him i would see if there was a way to reset it without a format. thanks!
