cpu at 20% for unknown reason - System Interrupt

    Hi,

    the pc: QC5000-ITXPH

I've got a severe issue here.
When I open one of these 2 surveillance softwares:
    -axis-camera-station
    -axis-companion
, after a while the cpu starts load at 20% without reason.

the process is "System Interrupts" and I can't determine what is causing this.
I've tried almost all the solutions found on google and I even formatted.

with axis companion I also have problems with the hardware acceleration, the images have poor fps and lag, that's why I think there's a problem with the graphic drivers, but I dont really know.

I've already tried to use the software DPC Latency Checker, it says one of the files that causes the interrupts calls is acpi.sys..

I tried to detach all the usb devices, tried to change video drivers,
I dont know what to do, please help.

    :)

  2. Windows 10 system interrupts using 20% CPU

    Hi Stephen,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I understand your concern over Windows 10 performance. I will certainly help you.

For better understanding of the issue, please reply to the following questions.

    1. What do you exactly mean by 'Microsoft test\scan' ?

    2. Are you referring to Microsoft Safety Scanner ?

System Interrupts are a mechanism by which the hardware (or a background device) can notify the processor that something requires attention, could be USB transfer, disk transfer something like that; nothing to worry about.

Even simply moving your mouse activates an interrupt, the Operating System see's the interrupt which tells it that the mouse is being used and it must divert it's attention to what the mouse is doing.

You might experience performance issues in Windows for a number of reasons. Some common issues that can cause these problems are:

    • Due to Software conflicts or Hardware problems.
    • If the drivers are corrupted or incompatbile with Windows.
    • Multiple startup programs running in background.
    • If your computer is infected by malware.

I suggest you to follow the troubleshooting methods listed below and check if it resolves the issue.

Method 1: Run the System Maintenance troubleshooter

Windows 10 has a built-in troubleshooter to check and fix issues with system performance and maintenance. Follow below steps:

    1. Right click on Start button, select
    Control Panel
    .

    2. Change the view by option on the top right to
    Large icons.

    3. Click on Troubleshooting and click on the view all
    option on the left panel.

    4. Run the System Maintenance troubleshooter.

Method 2: Disable the unnecessary Startup items

Make sure to kill processes that are not needed and disable the unnecessary Startup items via Startup in Task Manager.

    1. Right click on Start and select Task Manager.

    2. Click on Startup tab, right click on the process and click on
    Disable.

    3. Restart the system and check if the issue is resolved.

    Method 3: Update the Drivers

Most hardware interfaces require driver software to work properly. If you recently upgraded from one version of Windows to another, power outages, viruses, or other computer problems, it's possible that the drivers have become corrupted. Downloading and
installing the latest driver can resolve these types of problems.

Refer below article to know how to Update drivers:

    How to update drivers

Hope this helps. If the issue remains unresolved, please get back to us and we would be happy to help.

  3. Windows 10 system interrupts using 20% CPU

I have looked over the communities posts about system interrupts and need help going through the steps to resolve this problem. I noticed my computer slowing down and checked the system monitor, and found system interrupts using 20 % avg. CPU. I realize
there is a Microsoft test\scan, but I am not sure how to perform it, or how to get it to a zipped stage for uploading to a pastebin. Any help with this would be greatly appreciated. My computer is an HP dx 7200 with windows 10 OS.

cpu at 20% for unknown reason - System Interrupt

In administrative command prompt run sfc /scannow
Have you uninstalled and reinstalled the software?

Perform a clean boot and then reevaluate what is happening in task manager.
    Better, worse, same over time?

How to perform a Clean Boot in Windows 10 - TechNet Articles - United States (English) - TechNet Wiki

If better then you can narrow down the misbehaving application.
If worse then you can use windows performance recorder.
The challenge will be the analysis or finding someone to interpret the tracings

System Interrupts are hardware based so I'd look at your drivers first. Is it only happening when you run your camera software? I'd say it was conflicting with your gpu drivers

    hi,

I did sfc scannow and it didnt detect any issue.

I could do a clean boot, but the system is pratically new, there's nothing to exclude.

I'm now running the system since hours after makin the Realtek LAN driver update, from the win10 update one to the asrock website downloaded one, that it seems to be more recent. I'll also try the one from the official realtek website. I'm not getting the issue, till now,,, still wating....

anyway if I solve or not, I still have hardware accelerated images lag and poor fps with Axis Companion, so there's a problem even with the gpu drivers i think.

edit: i'll wait a day or two then i can mark this thread as solved. thanks
