  1. CPU Core speed locked around 800 MHz?

    Snaggy - easy screenshots

Hello! I recently reset my computer because I noticed it was getting slow, and even after a clean install and after updating all of the drivers it was still slow, and I decided to look around and see if I could identify the problem. I think I did. My currently installed processor is an AMD Phenom II X4 965 Processor, which SHOULD run at around 3400 MHz, but as you can see it is locked at around 800? I've looked everywhere and I can't find an issue. I'm running on a desktop PC my cousin built, so I'm not super tech savvy when it comes to hardware. Help?

    :)

    Cpu performance on windows 10

AMD 1055t 6x 2.8 ghz, clock speed 800 mhz to 2.8, turbo 3.3 ghz on 3 cores ( the way the cpu was designed .

1511 the cpu worked as it should but on 1607 all 6 cores are hitting the turbo max and not downclocking.

Temps according to speccy and core temp show cpu and system components are within acceptable ranges

    on a full load.

My question is if this is a win10 driver bug or the os getting the most out of the cpu ?

The other issue is that all cores are locked to the same frequency and not running independently.

This cpu and motherboard are not "locked".

On a very old AMD 9500 and 3350m cpu's they work independently on all cores as well as

    a 9370

    amd cpu"s all cores locked to one frequence phenom 2, A8 3500m amd 9370 8 core, 9500

amd cpu"s all cores locked to one frequence phenom 2, A8 3500m 9370 8 core

Before 1607 all cores worked at a different per core clock from lowest to highest .

Now all cores run identical to one frequency.

Can understand the 9500 has only 1.1 to 2.2 so the cpu has little headroom.

    but the 1055t 800 mhz to 2.8 turbo 3.3, a8 3500 800 mhz to 2.4 ghz,

    9370 1.4 ghz to 4.4 ghz turbo 4.7.

The later three are all locked to one freq. as if they are one cpu.

The 9370 has never been stable at a tubro of 4.7 4.4 max was the highest it could get to.

I use core temp, cpuz, speccy to verify

    posted in feedback hub

Win10 1607 rs1, rs2 have the same issue on amd cpu cores all work at same frequency, a89500m, 9500, t1005 amd 9370. All cpu's work at the same clock frequency with different loads % Past operating system from Microsoft did not have this issue. 4, 6 and 8
cores should work independent of each other depending on cpu heat, workload and voltage. I do not know if this is the same for other cpu's made from intel but would like to know if it is an issue.

Cpu core clock should not be spread across every core, it makes the cpu work more when not needed. My guess here is to keep pc cpu's, phones and tablets working in the same fashion. No wonder we have stability issues on win10.

Would like to see a real Microsoft hardware engineer give some feedback on this.

Would like to know if anyone else is seeing this issue and if intel cpu's have the same problem.

CPU Core speed locked around 800 MHz?

What does it show in BIOS Setup?

I think the CPUZ number is bogus.

I think CPU-Z is miss-reading your info and your core speed x your multiplier is your actual speed. 805 x 4 = 3220 Mhz.

Try going into the BIOS and have a look at the info there ,also what does Windows say when you right click 'My Computer' and look at the properties?

Also Task Manager, Performance tab, click on CPU. What does it say for speed?
