    cpu i5-6500 skylake quad core 3.2GHz
    RAM: g.skill 4 series 16GB 16 RAM DDR4 2133 (PC4 17000)
    Video: onboard integrated video intel H170

    1. I have 8 security IP cams. When viewing them my CPU hits100% and the app crashes. If I view my cam in low res, the app runs better but not ideal. (and I have dual monitor). Is this due to me using onboard video? Should I buy a dedicated video card?

    2. this might be for a different topic but when i use my virtual machine, it seems laggy. Again, Is this due to me using onboard video? Should I buy a dedicated video card?

    Or is my CPU the bottleneck?

    If the cpu is hitting 100% that will not likely change.

    That is why I would like to see the graphics power but I don't think a dedicated video card be better for viewing the cams.

    The high CPU usage is probably to compress the cams image before recording.
    Also if the CPU temperatures are above 80ºC the CPU can throttle.
    Can't you control the compression level on the cams software?
