Windows 10: CPU meter in Windows 10

Hi guys

Just transitioned to Windows 10. Am very much used to Windows 7 (skipped over 8 / 8.1). Anyway I know Desktop Gadgets are gone but what I really liked about 7 was having them in the upper right of my desktop. Especially handy was the default CPU meter. I literally just wanted a quick look to see what CPU resources and RAM resources were being used. Can I get that back in Windows 10? Is there something in the store (unfortunately work pc is locked down so I cannot browse it)? Even if it is embedded in the start menu/live tiles area then that is fine. I just want something akin to the old very simple CPU meter.

ummm the question : Is there a CPU Meter for Windows 10 and yes there is a very limited one in task manager or resmon but as of today I cannot find anything close to a gadget that shows CPU usage for the desktop that works on windows 10..... like All CPU
meter did for previous versions of windows:

Either that or use resource monitor, resize and stick it on the desktop somewhere?
Then there's CPU-Z as a third party app and I'm sure many others as well.

Just click the zip to download, right click the file, open properties, unblock(bottom right corner), apply, extract and place a copy(send to) of the icon to your desktop.

 

Also if you right click on the CPU Utilization graph you can select to change the graph to show overall utilization or per-logical core utilization via "Change graph to" menu.

One thing missing from these alternatives is the clock speed that was displayed with the widget CPU meter with the old desktop gadgets. There was a replacement program that worked with Windows 8/8.1 that I used called 8gadgetpack. I just installed it on Windows 10 (after creating a restore point just in case) and it seems to be working fine in Windows 10.

Update: some widgets don't work (this is stated on the 8gadget web site), but most do including the CPU widget and my old Pandora widget (which I had from before but does not come with the 8gadget pack). Also, the CPU load of the desktop gadgets (in task manager) seems far less than it was in Windows 8.1.

 

I'm using Windows 7 gadgets under Windows 10, works fine.

You might find Rainmeter to be what you're looking for.

 

The OP is looking for a CPU meter. Rainmeter does not appear to have this function.
