On my wife's laptop I use tried and true Core Temp. Still very light weight, and no fancy features or code.

  3. Thanks so much all. I downloaded the 8gadget program and that's perfect. Seems to be running good old cpu meter fine

I think you'll enjoy. The current version works very well on Windows 10 -- better than the product did on Windows 8.1. And the great thing -- you got back exactly what you had. Suggest you add the 7 Sidebar gadget (if you haven't already) by right clicking the sidebar area to bring up all the options to customize and manage the gadgets. Enjoy!

    Hi Wayne,

    Do the following:
    Open Task Manager
    Go to performance Tab
Right click on Small CPU Graph on the left
    Set to Summary view
You can now place the small version anywhere on your desktop, and even make the windows smaller if you want

Your suggestion is good but not what the OP was looking for. They found the solution that provides the same gadget functionality they were looking for.

Just a quick note. Some gadgets (8gadgetpack) do not work properly with insider builds after 10240 (10537, 10565). This issue appears to be fixed with 10576.

Edit: the author of 8gadgetpack has added a work around for this in v16.

Maybe the OP wants more than what the built-in program can offer.
To me, Task Manager > Performance , is more than enough.

  12. But it is not as convenient as a desktop gadget.

No I agree with you there
Thanks working fine also on my daughters desktop as now she can see what her CPU etc is running at instead of keep opening another App

    Agreed.
Personally I would rather to have less 3rd party programs than more.
    But, each to his own.
