  2. Overheating CPU

I am having the same problem with a I7 4770k gen4 cpu, 32gb corsair DDR3 ram, gtx670 graphics card, 250gb Samsung pro Solid State c:. Vented to the max. CPU fan seated correctly. Chased all kinds of drivers to fix a hang-up during boot and updated the
bios in steps to catch up. Run the windows check so many times I am starting to lose my sense of humor. There are no memory board led codes now. The system is running back to what feels "normal. Reverted the bios settings to default. R7000 router firmware
and the drivers for video cards... First of all, this did not happen with Windows 8.1 I have had a number of overheats. If I billed Microsoft for the time I have chasing this to get my system working and not putting thousands of dollars of hardware at risk
I could buy a new system. I promise not to jump down anyone's throat as long as you don't suggest to run the windows check utility via shift+restart. I was told flat out that Windows does not have the proper drivers available for faster chips and this is
a serious and known problem with windows10. The roll out keeps rolling.

  3. CPU overheating

    Hi AndyNChelt,

    Welcome to Microsoft Community.

I'm Hahn and I'm here to help you with your concern.

It's quite unusual for Task Manager to have such a significant impact on CPU temperature, and it's challenging to pinpoint the exact cause without more information. However, there are a few possible explanations and steps you can take to investigate further:

    1. Temperature Sensor Issue: One possibility is that there might be an issue with the temperature sensors on your CPU or motherboard. When you open Task Manager, it could trigger a sensor refresh or reset, which might temporarily show a lower temperature. Try using third-party monitoring tools to cross-check CPU temperatures while running different tasks.

There might be a bug or issue with the monitoring software you are using to check CPU temperature. It's possible that the software is reporting incorrect temperatures, leading you to believe the CPU is overheating. Try using a different monitoring tool to see if it shows the same behavior.

    2. Background Task Interaction: It's possible that there's a specific background process or application causing the overheating issue, but for some reason, it becomes inactive or throttles down when Task Manager is opened. Task Manager's activity might interfere with the problematic process, providing temporary relief. To investigate this further, you can use other software, such as Process Explorer or Resource Monitor, to monitor processes and resource usage in more detail.

    4. Firmware/BIOS Update: Ensure that you have the latest firmware or BIOS updates installed for your motherboard and CPU. Sometimes, these updates can include fixes for temperature-related issues.

    5. Software Conflict: Certain software conflicts or driver issues can lead to abnormal CPU usage and overheating. Make sure your drivers are up to date and try running the system in safe mode to see if the issue persists. Start your PC in safe mode in Windows - Microsoft Support

    6. Hardware problems: In rare cases, there could be a hardware issue with the CPU or motherboard that causes abnormal behavior. If you've ruled out all software-related possibilities, consider seeking help from quipment manufacturer's technician to diagnose potential hardware problems.

To investigate further, I recommend using multiple monitoring tools, checking your power management settings, and inspecting your cooling system.

I hope this helps. If there is anything not clear, please do not hesitate to let me know.

    Your Sincerely

  4. CPU overheating after BIOS update [Fix]

    CPU overheating

My CPU is constantly overheating (to about 85C), but when I open Task Manger to identify what is using the CPU capacity the overheating instantly stops and CPU temperature goes back to normal (34C). I have tried turning off all background processes to fix the problem, with no success. According to my security scan (F-Secure) I don't have any malware. Any thoughts about what is going on or how to investigate further?
