Windows 10: Cpu Temerature Monitor

CPU and other temperatures.
I use HWMonitor from CPUID. It stores the max temperature during some application or game which is good enough for me as that is what is important.

There are other applications that can collect sample data say every second during an App or Game and you can look at or graph data later.

Each to their own really as to usefulness, you don't want a load of spurious and useless info. That's for you to test and decide on.

Fan speed.
Depends what fans and what they are connected with/to.
MOBO connected fans, like the CPU fan, have some monitoring software coming from the MOBO manufacturer.

PSU fan, probably no data, for most they just control themselves.

GPU Card fans, again the manufacturer may provide some software for fan speeds and indeed temperatures.

Last, but certainly not least is your ears/eyes, if a fan bearing has gone you usually hear that, and see if a fan has seized/stopped, or varies in speed with load.

I was wondering if anyone knows if there is a cpu temperature monitor gadget anyone knows about? So I do have open hardware monitor but it doesn't support monitoring my i7-7700, I want one that is a small window like open hardware monitor. NOT ONES IN THE TASKBAR! Due to the fact that you cant have taskbar icons on a secondary monitor, also you cant see it while playing full screen games . Anyone know of any program that can do this that you can start with windows and it's not like a program window (like open hardware monitor in the image below?). Also if there is one that can monitor the fan speed in the same way?

Hooking up a second HP monitor to my HP Pavillion

on the back of my CPU, there is only one cable input for the monitor I am currently using and I want to have 2. I bought an HP W2082a monitor to install it but there is no where on the back of my CPU for the 2nd monitor. What do I need to do?

Thanks, but yes I was definitely seeing this issue while that trace was recorded.

Task manager was constantly showing 100% CPU usage and Resource monitor shows silly numbers for the CPU usage (40441489%).

If I sum the numbers under CPU in the Processes tab in Resource monitor, it matches the values shown in the trace (i.e., CPU usage is not 100%, but the charts and summary total at the top of the processes tab are maxed out.

In task manager the CPU usage numbers seem to be normalised to 100%.

i.e. they are constantly changing but seem to always add up to 100%.

I think that the CPU usage reported in the trace is correct, but Task Manager and Resource monitor are doing something wrong?

The 8Gadget pack works with Core Temp and will look like this.





Every upgrade, windows will uninstall it, but a pop up will ask if you want to reinstall it. Just click yes and it will be right back.

 

Ditto earlier posters: @essenbe and @Grom0X. I've been using Helmut Buhler's 8Gadgetpack since Windows 8 came out, and endorse it highly. You do have to install and use Core Temp or PC Meter to get the temps showing in CPU Meter, though. I've been using Core Temp (look for an older, pre-1.0 version if you decide to go this route). What I like best about the tool combination is that it's unobtrusive, resource light, and works like a charm. Also Buhler has an automatic repair utility that reinstalls 8GadgetPack after each feature upgrade (because Windows uninstalls it and refuses to upgrade it automatically).

Why bother? The box keeps track of temperature all by itself, and adjusts fan speed accordingly. It's self-adjusting, so you won't have to! *Smile
