  1. CPU usage 100% at Windows 10, system is very slow

    Hello.

I have a problem with windows 10. When I turn on my laptop, at windows startup my laptop's CPU usage is 100 percent and it takes about 10-15 minutes and specially when I connect to internet it takes longer and my system runs really slow and I cannot do anything in my system.

When I open task manager, I cannot see any processes with abnormal CPU usage. Sometimes 'system interrupts' process CPU usage is more than other processes' CPU usage but it is not 100%. I am confused and I don't know what should I do to solve this problem.

I thought it might be a virus and I reinstalled my windows but my problem didn't solve. I also attached a photo of my screen:

    Please help me.

    Thanks and best regards.

    cpu usage at 100%

CPU usage at 100% from start up for no apparently good reason. Service Host appears to be the problem but I cant narrow it down more than that at present.

    Any suggestions?

I am using Windows 10 full release version 64 bit.

    Hi khalidenoaman,

I’m Rey, your Windows 10 Advisor.

I understand you are having a CPU usage 100% when you did an upgrade from Windows 7 to Windows 10.

I had experience this before and fix it temporarily but I was ended to do a clean installation.

The reaosn why, since there will be several issues especially hardware configuration are designed orinigall base from the Windows 7 system.

YOu may disable things but it's a total different if you'll do a clean instalation instead.

Solutions to Fix the High CPU Usage

Solution 1: Restart the WMI Provider Host

Step 1: Search for Services and open it.

Step 2: In the window, find Application Management and right-click it. Then select Restart.

Solution 2: End the Processes that Cause High CPU Usage

Step 1: Search for Task Manager and open it.

Step 2: Click the CPU column header to sort the processes by CPU usage and check which processes cause your CPU becoming higher.

Step 3: Right-click the process that consumes lots of your CPU and then you should click End task to finish this process.

Solution 3: Disable Third-Party Antivirus Software or Run an Antivirus Scan

Solution 4: Reset Your Power Plan

Step 1: Choose Hardware and Sound after you launch Control Panel, and click Power Options.

Step 2: Then choose Balanced if your computer is on Power saver.

Step 3: Then click Change plan settings that is next to the Balanced.

Step 4: Now, you just need to click Restore defaults settings for this plan and click OK to make the changes.

Solution 5: Modify Settings in Registry Editor

Step 1: Press the Windows logo key and the R key at the same time to open the Run dialog.

Step 2: Type regedit and then press Enter to open Registry Editor. You’ll be prompted for permission and please click Yes to open it.>

Step 3: Follow the path to locate the correct system files: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TokenBroker.

Step 4: Right-click the Start entry on the right side of the pane and select Modify…..

Step 5: Then change the Value data to 4 and click OK to save the change.

Solution 6: Turn Windows Notification Settings Off

Step 1: You should click the Start button and click Settings to open the Windows Setting.

Step 2: Then choose System and click Notifications & actions on the left side of the pane.

Step 3: At last, you just need to turn off the feature Get notifications from apps and other senders.

I hope these information gives you the support you need. If you need more, let me know.

  4. CPU usage 100% at Windows 10, system is very slow

100% CPU Usage after Windows 10 upgrade

    Hello Aaron,

Thank you for posting on Microsoft Community. We regret the inconvenience caused and will assist you in resolving the issue.

Most of the time, computers only use a small fraction of their CPU power. In fact, many computers use less than 5% of their CPU most of the time. When you open an application, play a video game, or encode media file, the CPU usage will rise or spike temporarily.
Once the CPU intensive process completes, the CPU usage should once again drop down to lower level. Most applications will not use up more than 50% of your CPU for an extended period of time. However, some programs and system processes can use up a large amount
of CPU without you even knowing it. This may happen if a program gets stuck in an infinite loop or encounters an unexpected error.

I suggest you to perform Safe mode and Clean boot procedures on the PC by following the steps below.

Step 1: I suggest you to boot your PC in Safe mode by following the steps from the link below and check if the issue is resolved.

Safe mode is a diagnostic mode that starts your computer with limited drivers necessary to run Windows. The words
Safe Mode appear at the corners of your monitor to identify which Windows mode you are using.

Expand the options to boot into Safe Mode:

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-in/windows-10/start-your-pc-in-safe-mode

Reboot the PC to exit from Safe mode.

To know more about Safe mode, following is an article on
Windows Startup Settings (including safe mode)
    (Applies to Windows 10 also):

    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-8/windows-startup-settings-safe-mode

Step 2: If the issue persists, perform Clean boot on your PC by following the steps from the link below and check if the issue is resolved.

Putting your system in Clean Boot state helps in identifying if any third party applications or startup items are causing the issue.

I suggest you to perform clean boot by following the steps from the link below and check if the issue is resolved.

You can open the system configuration window in Windows 10:

    a. Using run command.

      • Press Windows Key + R keys on the Keyboard.
      • Type msconfig.msc and press Enter.

    b. Using Cortana.

      • Press Windows icon key on the keyboard and type msconfig.
      • Select the top most search result.
Follow the steps from 3 under How to perform a clean boot
for Windows 8.1 and Windows 8 from the link below (The steps for clean boot suggested in the link below for
Windows 8/8.1 is applicable for Windows 10 as well):

    https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/kb/929135

Disclaimer: Start the computer in normal mode refer the section,
How to reset the computer to start normally after clean boot troubleshooting
    from the link above.

Write to us with the status of the issue on the same post for further assistance. Your reply is most important for us to ensure we assist you accordingly.

    Thank you.
