  1. CPU Usage Not Exceeding 17%

I am experiencing an unusual issue with my Windows laptop where the CPU usage does not exceed 17%, as shown in Task Manager. This limitation persists regardless of the tasks or applications I am running. I have already tried a factory reset, but the issue remains unresolved. does anyone know if this problem is software related, and if it its hardware, what could be the issue?

    :)

  2. Spikes in CPU usage

Open Task Manager and under list of Processors , sort them by CPU usage and see what process is using it.

1% to 17% is normal and it might be background task for maintain Windows or Anti-Malware check.

Does it happening with Rainmeter skin?

Antimalware service exceutable is always showing 17% cpu usage on windows 10 home

I have a pretty new asus laptop with nvidia 1070 gpu. Today I ran windows update which installed "Feature update to Windows 10, version 1803"

After rebooting i noticed my systen fan was making a lot of noise (overworking) (earlier it was pin drop silence) so i checked the cpu usage in task manager and noticed that "Antimalware service exceutable" is always at 17% cpu usage and continuously disk
    usage of around 25mb/s.

I am using windows defender as my security service and donot have any other antivirus software installed.

I waited for more than 5 hours and its still at 17% cpu usage and 25mb/s disk usage. Can you tell me why this always clocking 17% cpu usage of a very powerful core i7 machine and how i can shutdown the "antimalware service executore" or windows defender.

Windows Explorer high CPU Usage in Windows 10

    Hi Andrew,

Usually, too many background processes can boost your CPU usage. Since you already disabled the apps that are not necessary on startup,
we suggest checking the applications running once you have successfully boot Windows 10. To do this, simply follow the steps below:

    • Click on the Start button and type Task Manager on the search box.
    • On the Task Manager window, you should see the programs running.
    • Click on the More details drop-down button to see the total number of apps running and their real-time CPU usage.

From there, you should see what applications are running on high CPU usage. You can also
restart the Windows Management Instrumentation service and see if your CPU performance will improve. Follow the instructions below to restart the service:

    • Click on the Start button and type Services.
    • Scroll down the list and look for Windows Management Instrumentation.
    • Right click on it and select Restart.

Should you have further questions, please let us know.
