Windows 10: CPU usage not going above 22% or .48GHz making pc run really slow

Hi,Lately, I have been facing this issue that my processor does not run at its usual speed. It works totally fine for a few moments after I wake it from sleep but after 1-2 minutes, the processor cannot clock above 0.48 GHz while the base speed is 2.2 GHz. This makes my laptop very laggy and sometimes even simple processes, like using word docs, excel can't be performed. Things I have tried based on the other threads that I could find here:1. Running a boot time hardware diagnostics for understanding if the battery, adapter or processor is at fault. But I could not find any issue.2.

The lower the CPU usage, the better. Most applications will not use up more than 50% of your CPU for an extended period of time. To verify, what are the usual applications that you run on your PC? Does your PC slow down at 54%?

  What makes you think that system is running slow? Is it when you are trying to run application?

From the screenshot that you have provided, I understood that it’s not the issue with the disk usage. The slowness might be due to the memory usage.

As an initial troubleshooting step, I suggest you to run maintenance task and check if it helps.
