  1. CPU usage not going over 60%

Hey there, I have an Asus Zenbook UX461 with an i7550u and Nvidia MX150, and I use it fairly heavily, with at least 50 chrome tabs open multiple windows haha at any one time, as well as a fairly resource-heavy music player and a few other things going on in the background. Like this, it works great and doesn't really lag at all, and when I push the limits a little more with things like Premiere Pro, FL Studio, Photoshop, or even gaming with all these other apps open, it normally still goes great and only gives a tiny amount of lag. However, recently, it's been acting up and it's incredibly frustrating as I can't complete my tasks. Today I have 60 tabs open in 5 windows, a couple file explorer windows, an SD card writing video onto the machine, Youtube music desktop app and BT streaming to another device, creative cloud updating a load of apps, as well as premiere pro open with a 10 min video. The view window is stuttering unusably bad, and there's no way I can even watch it like this, let alone edit. Now if this was the maximum capability of the machine I'd just suck it up and try close things until it goes a bit faster, but I can't help but notice that task manager shows my CPU usage sitting at a steady 60% with pretty much no up or down, and neither the integrated graphics or the MX150 seem to be doing much at all. The laptop is warm, but nowhere near as hot as it gets normally. The fan isn't even operating, leading me to believe the machine is definitely not maxed out.

It's plugged in and at full battery, on best performance mode. Any help would be appreciated!

    :)

  2. AndreTen Win User

Constant 100% Disk Usage, 60-80% CPU usage. Both happen when idle.

Could you also provide a snapshot of Resource Monitor with selected Disk Activity Tab and checked only System:

i would also suggest running checkdisk and sfc /scannow
