    Hi,

    Yes, those two little programs are pretty much OS independent, they don't need they're executables in a specific folder to run.
    This is why they still run fine from Windows.Old folder. You could say they're kind of semi-portable apps.

    Many programs will run from windows.old. It depends if they are portable or not. E.g. rufus is portable and could be run off a flash drive. Microsoft Word is not, requiring registry changes, dependencies on other parts of Windows etc.

    Many small utility programs are portable which is why Kyhi can include them in his excellent Winpe Recovery Drive in the software and applications section.
