Windows 10: Crash Errors

I've ordered Windows 10 64-BIT Reinstall Install DVD Home and Professional - 2017 Driver DVD Included - 2 Disc Installation Kit

1 disk System Installation
1 disk Drivers

The laptop originally came with Windows 7, I downloaded & installed Windows 10. So I have not had any Media to do repairs or reinstall from.

 

If you upgraded windows 7 to windows 10 during the free upgrade period you have a digital license and do not need to purchase any recovery media.

If you create a bootable windows 10 iso you can perform repairs and clean install.

It's been well over I year since I downloaded & installed Windows 10. How do I use my license?

Also, as of this tonight, I am not even able to get to my log in screen, after I start up I get a blue screen with some kernal error. I have tried to get into safe mode Start-up + holding down Shift or F2 key and neither works.

 

I cannot login to the laptop to be able to do that - my only other computer is a Mac with an optical drive (which is what I'm using now). I have a few Memorex DVDRW but there only 4.7GB

 

I've tried copying it onto a USB Flashdrive using my Mac, the flashdrive is initialism for windows, but the laptop is not reading the flashdrive after I push the start button. It was reading the Dell diagnostics disks. That's why I decided to order the Windows DVD's.

 

To boot to a device you need to click the applicable keyboard key or temporarily change the bios boot order:

Thanks for the link. When I pres F2 with the Start button it opens what I think is the BSOD, the USB is in position 3. I've tried changing it to position 1 (which is where the DVD drive is). and I hold down the F2 key while Starting up, but it stills starts to the HD.

 

I am running Diagnostics from the Dell disk - I will post later the results.

 

OK = First everything has passed with the Dell Diagnostic Disk test.

Second - I was finally able to make a DVDRW with the Windows link and am now using on the laptop, I'll see how far I get and report

 

OK - I ran the Start-Up repair from the DVDRW and it worked, but I am still getting error messages on my Desktop. I now want to due a clean install and I'm trying to figure out how to erase the HD. I've seen several instructions that say as soon as you see the Dell screen push the F11 key repeatedly to get to the Advanced screen. I've tried this several time but it's not working, so I'm looking for another method to erase the HD.

 

1) Create a bootable windows 10 iso:
Download Windows 10
2) Boot to the iso using the applicable keyboard key: (USB external HD)
List of PC brands with their corresponding hot-keys
3) Click install
4) Delete paritions > make an unallocated drive > install windows 10 version 1709

Thanks much for the info & links. I have found a problem, according to the Dell Recover & Backup installation wizard, it was not able to complete "there is no Windows Recovery to work with". So, I'm guessing I have no Windows Back Up for the Dell Recovery & Backup to work with. I have been trying to get to the Dell Advanced Boot screen (F12 several times after the Dell logo appears) by way of the Advanced Boot there is a path that goes to a erase or recovery. But I have been unable to get there. I have also tried the Dell Utility Disk but it does not have an erase option.

 

Your are able to perform a clean install without the dell recovery.
If you started with windows 7 or 8 and upgraded to windows 10 you have a digital license.
So you can perform a clean install with a windows 10 iso.

 

I was able to download Windows 10 ISO onto a DVDRW, I used it on the Dell Laptop, that is how I got the Start Up repaired. I wanted to erase the HD, before doing the clean install - that way I can be sure all the problem stuff is gone.
