Crazy question about customizing sounds for windows 10?

I have recently bagan Customizing my desktop a bit. And I have changed my background as well as my lock screen and also my colors for my taskbar plus I have even changed my folder icons as well as my file type icons and so far things are going acording to plan so now I'm looking into changing the sounds a bit as well.

So when I get a email notification from the mail app I will here a specific sound. And be able to chose what I want to here from some secific programs.

So is there away to find out where the current sound files are kept.

For example if I right click on the desktop and then left click on personalize and then go to themes and then go to "Advanced sound settings" I get a pop up saying "Sound" and it says "Sound Scheme" Windows Default. If I go into the Program Events: and click on Calendar Reminder its says "Windows Notify Calendar.wav" now how would I find this actual file to find out how long it is so I know how short to make my sound file for the sample. I don't want to place a 20 second sound file when the normal sample is only 3 or 4 seconds. It would sound odd I think.

And when I click test it plays the sound but when I click browse it shows just a random open folder from my downloads that dose not have that sound file or even any .wav files.

    :)

    Questions about customizing e61i

    Hi

I just plonked a huge bundle on my e61i and am less than satisfied for what should be a decent Qwerty phone. Here are some questions that I hope the nice experienced folks here can direct me on-

    1. Where do I change the menu items for the left and the right key (default: Camera and Notes respectively).

    2. Why is the customization of icons on the main home page (desktop?) possible only through the "Stand By" options!!?? What sense does that make?

    3. When I take a picture and want to set it as a wallpaper -- it only occupies about 75% of the wallpaper. What is this? How can I make sure that the pictures take up 100% of the wallpaper area?

    4. Why is it that speed dial is only for number keys? With a proper qwerty phone, I should be able to do a speed dial with every alphabet and every number! Where can I change this setting?

    5. Where can I change the receptivity of the keypad? The keypad is cushiony and when I am typing fast (what else is the point of spending on a qwerty phone?!) I miss many letters. Where can I make the keys more sensitive?

    6. In my email, when I mark all email and DELETE, and select "Delete from phone and server", the mails do not get deleted. Neither from the phone nor the server. It is a straightforward pop3 server, and these type of instructions work from every mail client
in the world other than on my Nokia phone. How can I make sure that my deletion commands are heeded?

    7. How can I import all my feeds from Google Reader into my Nokia e61i? Or is there an OPML reader in the phone? Or what else can I do instead of manually entering the feeds one by one?

Many thanks. All of the above are easily possible with my corporate qwerty phone (you know, the famous one; brand intentionally not mentioned here) so I am hoping this equally expensive Nokia can do at least some of these things!!

Thanks for any thoughts or pointers!

  3. Questions about customizing e61i

    1. Go to Menu-> Tools-> Settings-> Phone-> Standby

    2. These are shortcuts for the your favorite applications.

    3. I think that only the theme picture occupies 100% of the screen area.

    4. Speed dial is a common feature for all phones. For Symbian phones (with or without a full keyboard) there is an only application to manage speed dials.

    5. I don’t see how one can chage this parameter.

    6. My E61 do this job witout any problem.

    7. No, there is not OPML/RSS reader installed by default.

Crazy question about customizing sounds for windows 10?

Just a thought.. if the customisation you've done has taken a long time, you will most probably lose your customised icons if either:
    - you do an in-place upgrade install repair
    - you apply the next major build upgrade (as 10586 was).

You may wish to plan for that.
(I use Icon Changer to change some 77 icons to Win 7 style- that's pretty quick although it requires manual intervention to actually move the updated imageres.dll to the system folder)

That is strange - when I click on browse from there it opens C:\Windows\Media which is where the file is on my install.

You can also search for it in File explorer (found it in the same place for me).

Here's something I saved on this a long time ago that may be of interest (I'm not trying to directly answer your question):

Saving your sounds and sound scheme
To save your sound schemes, save one registry entry and the sound files.
    Background
    1. C:\Windows\Media
By default, all system sounds are stored here.
But they don’t have to be- each sound in each scheme could be in a unique location, as it has its own registry entry.

    2. Each sound scheme has a name under Control Panel, Sounds & Devices.

    3. Each element of each scheme has a registry entry

Step 1. Make sure your sound scheme has a name
Your current sound scheme may not have a name, so give it one if necessary.

Step 2. Save your personal sound files somewhere other than your Windows Drive, say D:\My Sounds\

Step 3. Open your Registry Editor - Start -> Run -> Regedit

Step 4. Go to HKEY_CURRENT USER ---> AppEvents ---> Schemes

This is where all your sound schemes, every key under .Default, Explorer, MSMSGMS, etc holds the location to your current sounds.

Step 5. Right click on the "Schemes" main folder and Click on the Export option and save the Registry editor file.

    Step 6.
Back up the sound files themselves.

That’s it - Whenever you want to restore your sounds, with every new install or whatsoever, just double click the saved Registry File, click on Yes and voil ! It’s done.

Ok first of all I found all the sounds but now I'm having a problem with changing the correct sounds. Example when I get a tab sliding in from the right telling me about a new email for my windows 10 email it plays a sound but not the sound I set for my Desktop Mail Notification. Am I changign the wrong one or do I need to use a different program to be informed about my emails.

I'm currently using the windows 10 mail app or progam. Its on my start and it shows some of the emails in the icon and it also says mail. I have 2 email accounts on the app so I can keep all of my emails handy. I have it set up the same way on my windows 10 phone.

When I go to the email apps setting and select notifactions in the action center it shows show a banner and play a sound. I want to change that sound. And the only email app I'm using is the mail app. Is tere a way to find where this sound is stored so I can change it. Or is there away to make shore this is my default email app.

Maybe that's why the sound did not change.
