Windows 10: create macrium rescue media for win 7 32 bit from win 10 64 bit pc

I could not find the PE either in Downloads or Program files. My friend PC is same so this rescue media will work there. But if I have to again create the rescue media then I will have to again download the PE if I am unable to find the PE already downlaoded by me on this PC.

 

Mine is Win 10 64 bit and friend is Win 7 32 bit but both PC have same hardware and I have created rescue media for 32 bit with PE4.

 

Well just by going to your title of this thread you wrote:

Those are two different versions of Windows and 1 IS 32bit, and yours is 64bit. Not the same.
I would install Macrium on your friends computer, then show him how to use it. Just my thoughts on this.

 

I agree, my friend and even my partner don't want to be involved in theses things.

 

Thanks. It means as per your opinion the rescue media created by me will not work on friends machine because of different versions and different bit.

 

As long as the hardware supports 64bit, even if its running a 32bit OS, it should not have a problem booting your Macrium PE disk.

 

Equally you can use a 32bit drive on a 64bit pc unless pc only supports UEFI.

An exception are some tablets which have a 64bit cpu but only a 32bit UEFI bootloader. These can only run 32bit.

 

This is for all the friends that the reason for not finding downloaded zip file PE4 could be that macrium deleted it. As I tried the same procedure on my other win 10 pc where already Macrium was installed. Then I checked the log and that is as follows:

Rescue media created my me on my Win 10 64 bit PC for my friend's Win 7 32 bit successfully worked on his PC. Our PC Hardware is same.

 

Hi folks.

apart from possible RAID drivers --surely if you create BOOTABLE media you don't need ANY drivers as the WINPE will always work with basic Video and all you need to do is to clone or image a DISK. Any version of WINPE will read HDD's (or SSD's) so I can't see what the problem is here.

Make a 32 bit bootable version and simply run it on any relevant machine.

Apart from RAID drivers you only need to install specific drivers if you are restoring your image to a new machine with new hardware --even then usually you can do that AFTER boot of the restored system - Windows or Manufacturers sites can then be used to find them.

No problem restoring a 32 BIT OS with bootable Macrium -- the only proviso is that you can't RUN 64 bit applications on a 32 bit CPU. For maximum flexibility therefore create a 32 bit version of the bootable macrium program --but bear in mind again if the target system needs things like RAID drivers then you won't be able to have 64 bit drivers on a 32 bit CPU.

(I'm referring here where people might have HARDWARE RAID controllers which are activated in the bios. Software RAID is no problem as these drivers will be in the Macrium image / clone disk).
