  2. Windows 11 Infinite Black Screen Loop After Failed Windows 10 Reset

    Hi everyone,

I am reaching out for assistance due to a challenging issue with my Windows 11 system, which is currently stuck in an infinite loop of a black screen with spinning circles. This issue arose unexpectedly after an attempt to reset my Windows 10 system on a separate disk failed, suggesting that the reset operation inadvertently impacted my primary Windows 11 system.

Here's a detailed breakdown of the events leading to the current problem:

    • My setup includes two hard drives: Disk A with Windows 11 (my primary system) and Disk B with Windows 10.
    • I encountered a DLL file missing error on Windows 10 (Disk B) and after unsuccessful attempts to fix it through runtime library installations and the SFC command, I decided to reset the Windows 10 system via the settings, choosing to reset only the system disk to avoid affecting other drives. Unfortunately, the reset failed.
    • Subsequently, attempting to boot into Windows 11 on Disk A resulted in a blue screen error related to the NTFS file system on the first attempt, followed by an automatic repair on the second attempt. After the repair, the system now persistently shows a black screen with spinning circles, unable to proceed to the login screen.
    Additional details and steps taken:

    • Through the Troubleshoot options, I can access CMD and open Notepad, confirming that the disks are accessible.
    • I have created a Windows installation USB drive and attempted its repair functions without success.
    • My setup involves two monitors, with the BIOS and system defaulting to monitor A, but Windows set to display only on monitor B. Post-issue, the system disconnects from monitor A and attempts to load on monitor B, indicating partial loading of Windows configurations.
It seems the reset attempt on Windows 10 has unexpectedly affected the Windows 11 system on the other disk. Given the steps I've already taken without success, I am seeking your expert advice on how to resolve this infinite loading issue and recover access to my Windows 11 system.

Any suggestions, guidance, or recommended steps to troubleshoot and resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated. Thank you very much for your time and assistance.

System repair disk DVD's that I created on Windows 11 PC's will not boot.

You would have to create a system image disk in Windows 11 and then attempt to make it bootable by using something like Image Burn.

I agree that this is not a very elegant solution. The fact that the system image disk is no longer bootable in Windows 11 severely decreases its usefulness.

Luckily, the Windows 11 iso downloadable from Microsoft is bootable and also contains repair tools.

The steps below are for installing an image you previously made. These steps work with DVD disks but it should work with a USB thumb drive as well.

    1. Place the Windows 11 iso Operating System Disc that you downloaded from Microsoft in a DVD drive.
    2. Boot and continuously tap the key till that will bring up the boot selection menu. For Asus motherboards, this is F8. When the ‘Please select boot drive’ screen comes up, select the UEFI entry with the DVD drive that contains your Operating System Disc. Press Enter.
    3. When ‘Press any key to boot from CD or DVD’ comes up, press Enter. The Windows logo will appear.
    4. When the ‘Install Now’ dialog box appears, click the ‘Repair Your Computer’ link in the bottom left hand corner.
    5. Choose Troubleshoot>System Image Recovery>Windows 11.
    6. When the message ‘Windows cannot find a system image on this computer’ comes up, place the last system image disc in your DVD drive and close the drive.
    7. Click ‘Retry’.
    8. Your computer will now search for an image. When it has found it, click ‘Next’.
At ‘Choose Additional Restore Options’ do not check ‘Format and repartition discs’. Click ‘Next’.

    9. At ‘Reimage your computer’ click ‘Finish’.

    10. Follow the screen instructions and insert the other system image discs as requested until the system desktop comes up.

The program will offer to burn a system repair disc. As mentioned above, the Windows 11 System Repair Disc is no longer bootable without alterations so do like Nancy said and just say no.

    I hope this helps.
