You can easily use an URL link for an app to open it in the Microsoft Store online in your web browser, but what if you wanted to directly open the app to its page in the Microsoft Store app in Windows 10?

You can create a link that launches the Microsoft Store and goes directly to your app's listing page without opening a browser. These links are useful if you know your users are on a Windows device and you want them to arrive directly at the listing page in the Microsoft Store app.

This tutorial will show you how to create a shortcut of an app that will directly open the app's listing page in the Microsoft Store app without opening a browser in Windows 10.

    4. Right click or press and hold on an empty area on your desktop, and click/tap on New and Shortcut.

    5. Enter the location below into the location area, and click/tap on Next. (see screenshot below)
    ms-windows-store://pdp/?ProductId=<app product ID>

*note Substitute <app product ID> in the location above with the actual product ID (ex: "9wzdncrfj364") of the app (ex: "Skype") from step 3 above.

    For example: ms-windows-store://pdp/?ProductId=9wzdncrfj364

    Shawn

    Windows 10 Tweaks

As you may already know, Windows 10 (as well as Windows 8) allow you to log in with a valid Microsoft account, instead of creating a local account that only works on your machine. However, you may prefer to keep a local account for privacy reasons. If you do, though, some Windows 10 features—like Cortana—may not work. Despite the default behavior, the Windows 10 Store is not one of them. You can still log in to your Microsoft account for just the Store without switching to a full Microsoft account. The process, however, is not terribly obvious. To do so, follow these steps:

    • Launch the Store from your Start menu.
    • Click the user icon next to the search box.
    • Click “Sign-in” from the menu that appears.
    • Choose “Microsoft account” and log in like normal.
    • When the “Make it yours” box appears do not enter your password. Instead, click “Sign in to just this app instead.”
