Hullo! So, I just had a question:

I've been wanting to do a reset on my computer as it's gotten laggy in a few areas (it's a five year old HP laptop). So, I went through all the steps of creating a Recovery USB drive. It worked, but it doesn't even take up one gig of the USB stick? I was just wondering if that was normal, as I've been seeing that a lot use up anywhere from five to 10 (I bought a 16 gig one, just in case).

    Info:

    - I did upgrade my hard drive to ssd in the beginning of November, cloned my hard drive and all with no problems.
    - I did at first have the 'We Can’t Create a Recovery Drive on this PC, some required files are missing", so I tried out the first method from this site here. And that worked out, since I was able to create my recovery drive.

But yes! I was just wondering if the low space was normal, as I don't want to start a reset and my laptop just goes up into flames. ;3

Thanks so much in advance for your help.

    create recovery drive

The Recovery Drive dialogue box does step 1 OK, but then doesn't offer me the option of selecting the usb drive 16 Gb which is inserted. It says Please wait, and after 5 min., "Unable to create recovery drive." Click Finish.

I am trying to create a recovery drive in usb drive.

I suggest you to try the steps below and see if It helps to resolve the issue.

    Creating a recovery drive

A recovery drive can help you troubleshoot and fix problems with your PC, even if it won't start. To create one, all you need is a USB drive.

    • From the taskbar, search for Create a recovery drive then select it. You might be asked to enter an admin password or confirm your choice.
    • When the tool opens, make sure Back up system files to the recovery drive is selected, then select
      Next.
    • Connect a USB drive to your PC, select it, then select Next > Create. A lot of files need to be copied to the recovery drive, so this might take a while.
    • When it's finished, you might see a Delete the recovery partition from your PC link on the final screen. If you want to free up drive space on your PC, select the link, then select
      Delete. If not, select Finish.

Hope the above information helps. Reply with necessary information and the result to help you further. Thank you.
