    Hi, guys. So, I decided to start doing things a little more securely and not just using an admin profile for everything I do. I read some tips stating this is a major no-no and that hackers try to gain access to the admin account and if you're under it all the time, all you need do is click/ download one wrong thing and they have immediate access. Click on one bad email, Facebook message link etc. So I created a standard user account that I mostly game on, as well as browse, shop etc. However, I have an application that boots up wanting admin at every startup. Is there a way to allow it to per

    Win does not prompt for an Admin password in a Standard account

    I don't think you can do that. Windows' behaviour when you first try to access a folder for which you don't have permission is to ask if you want to grant permanent access. For a standard user the UAC prompt will ask for an admin password to do this. You can revoke the permission later by deleting the added user account from the permissions for that folder if you wish.

    Hi Pub Fan,

    You can create a new user account on your computer and set is as an administrator. Follow the steps provided on this

    page
    . Once you have added a new administrator account, you can change the account type of the original user profile to standard. You can also remove the password for the original account using the new one. Here are the steps:

    • Sign in to the new user account.
    • Go to Control Panel.
    • Open User Accounts.
    • Click on User Accounts.
    • Click on Manage another account.
    • Select the old user profile.
    • Select Change the password.
    • Without typing anything in the password fields, click on Change password.
    You will not lose any passwords for your internet sites after applying the changes.

    Standard user account created shows Administrator on Windows 10

    Before assisting further, I would like to ask you few questions:

    • Are you logging in using a Microsoft account on any of the created two user accounts?
    • Have you created 2 local account with administrative privileges on the computer?


    Please be informed that Local user account as well as
    Microsoft user account
    can be considered as Standard user account. A
    Standard user account is the user account which do not have any administrative privileges.



    It is possible to create two or more accounts with administrative privileges on computers running with Windows 10 operating system.



    If you want to convert one of the user account as a standard account, I suggest you to follow the steps below and check if the issue is resolved.



    • Press Windows logo key on the keyboard, type Control panel in the search box and select the top most search result.
    • Select User Accounts and click on Change account type
      from the window.
    • Click on the user account and select Change the Account type option.
    • Select Standard and click on Change account type
      button from the window.
    • Close the window and check if the changes are effective.
