I created a Microsoft account some months ago using a Yahoo address. Some time later I learned to create an alias address for my Microsoft account, and made it as @outlook.com Still some time later, I adjusted account so that I can sign in to Microsoft account using the @outlook.com address I think thiis is "Primary Alias".Now, NEW WIndows 11 computer! I gave my Microsoft email address for the @outlook.com alias during machine&Windows setup. After setup selections, Windows updates, and a few more setup selections, computer with Windows 11 Home edition is working. ONE thing worr

Any chance the email you are trying to add is an outlook or hotmail address? Sorry I can’t see what you typed because the forum censored private information.

If it’s an outlook or hotmail address, you can’t add it to another Microsoft account as an alias because these native Microsoft email addresses themselves are already their own Microsoft accounts.

I’m afraid you only two options here. You can use a third party email addresses such as gmail or yahoo, as long as they haven’t been associated with another Microsoft account.

Or you can go to your current account, when you try to add an alias, choose to create an outlook email, then on the next page you can create an outlook account. It’s important to create a new outlook account from WITHIN your existing account vs adding an existing outlook account to your existing Microsoft account.

1) How do you access the Windows computer? Do you use Microsoft account or local account?

I suggest you to follow the below steps and check if it helps.

  Open PC settings, and click/tap on Accounts on the left side.
  
• 
  Click/tap on your account on the right side, click/tap on the More account settings online link at the top of the right side.
  
• 
  If this PC or device is not a trusted device, then you will be prompted to enter and submit a security code sent to your phone or alternate email address.
  
• 
  In Internet Explorer, or your default web browser, click/tap on the Add or change aliases link under Account aliases.
  
• 
  Click/tap on Rename under your (primary alias).
  
• 
  Click/tap on Yes, rename my primary alias.
  
• 
  Sign in to your Microsoft account with your new email address and password. You can close the web browser when finished.
  
• 
  To Create a New Email Address to Use as your Primary Alias

    Select (dot) Create a new email address as your primary alias.

    Select if you want a new hotmail.com, live.com, or outlook.com address.
