Windows 10: Creating a file type

How do you create a new file type in Windows 10 so you can have different extensions with the same "Type" when sorting in file explorer?

So .aaa and .bbb extensions would be "xxx documents" as the file type instead of "aaa File" and "bbb File". I know how to associate both .aaa and .bbb with the same application but I want to be able to sort by Type and have them grouped together as xxx documents.

Batch Files Knowledge Base

Don't use batch files very much but one I find useful is for creating a list of files in a directory.
Just copy the text below into Notepad and save as Filelist.bat

dir /a /-p /o:gen >filelist.txt

When you run it from a folder it will create a Filelist.txt file,in the same folder, that lists all the files in that folder.Useful when you are too lazy to type all the files out yourself.

I would suggest you to run System File Checker. its a utility in Windows that allows users to scan for corruptions in Windows system files and restored corrupted files. Follow the steps below:

• Press Win + R on the keyboard
• Type CMD the hit OK
• Type: sfc/scannow at the Command Prompt.
